Salary: £75,249 - £101,451
Full or part time applicants are invited to apply for Consultant posts in Respiratory Medicine based at West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust.
Four posts have been approved following the expansion and reconfiguration of the Department of Thoracic Medicine at West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust. The appointees will join the team delivering Inpatient, Outpatient and Bronchoscopy Services which include Subspecialty Clinics (Interstitial Lung Disease, Sleep, Domiciliary Ventilation, COPD, Asthma and Bronchiectasis; all in collaboration with our community partner, Central London Community Healthcare Trust), together with pure West Herts’ Services which include TB, Lung Cancer and the new Dedicated Pleural Programme with Medical Thoracoscopy.
In addition there are plans to expand the already established EBUS/Mediastinal EUS Service. One of the posts is intended to have an interventional bias and will also support a significant research interest should that be required. This post does not necessarily require a CCST in General Internal Medicine.
Applicants with existing skills in EBUS, Medical Thoracoscopy, Interventional Bronchoscopy or Interstitial Lung Disease are encouraged.
There are five established Consultant Physicians, one Associate Specialist and two Lung CNS supported by a team of Community-Based Respiratory Specialist Nurses and Physiotherapists providing Nurse-led Clinical Care, ‘Hospital At Home’, Oxygen and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
Three of the four successful applicants will be expected to contribute to the weekday General Internal Medicine (G(I)M) on-call rota (approximately 1 in 17). From April 2016 the Chest Physicians will step down from their weekend G(I)M commitment in favour of a weekend Respiratory rota (Saturday/Sunday mornings) on a 1 in 8 basis.
Enquiries about these posts with a view to arranging informal visits are welcomed. Please contact Dr Andrew Barlow, Clinical Lead for Respiratory Medicine at WHHT, by telephone, on: 01923 217 698.
