Gastrointestinal Diseases


Heartburn -- Diagnosing and treating gastroesophageal reflux disease (known as GORD). 

Peptic Ulcer Disease- 

Evaluation of Coeliac Disease 

Swallowing Disorders -- Diagnosing and assisting patients with swallowing difficulties. 

Diagnosis and Management of Colonic Diseases- Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, Diverticular Diseases, Polyps and Bowel Cancer. 

Investigation of Rectal Bleeding. 

Hepatic (Liver) Disorders-- Diagnosing and treating liver diseases; evaluation of abnormal liver function test LFT's and treatment options for hepatitis A, hepatitis B and Hepatitis C. 

Pancreatic Diseases 

Gastro-intestinal cancer management -- Diagnosing and treating oesophageal, gastric, intestinal, colorectal, liver and pancreatic cancers. If you require surgery, you will be referred to appropriate specialist surgeon. 

 Breath Tests - This test indicates if potentially ulcer-causing bacteria are present in the system as well as looking for lactose and fructose intolerance. 

Obscure GI Bleeding- Capsule Endoscopy. 

Endoscopy
  • Upper GI Gastroscopy- This is an investigation (using an endoscope) of the upper gastro-intestinal tract (i.e., oesophagus, stomach, and duodenum) to determine the existence of ulcers, Barret's oesophagus and other problems. 
  •  
  • Colonoscopy - This is an investigation (using an endoscope) of the lower gastro-intestinal tract (i.e., Colon and rectum) to determine if there are pre-cancerous polyps, cancer, or inflammatory bowel disease.
  • Flexible Sigmoidoscopy- This is a limited endoscopic investigation of the lower colon and rectum.
  • Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)- ERCP is a procedure to diagnose possible disorders of the pancreas and bile duct system using a duodenoscope.
  • Video Capsule Endoscopy -  some parts of the small intestines cannot be viewed through a regular endoscope, but can be viewed through this new technique involving capsule endoscopy.

  • Provide written information about diet, nutrition and eating
